Movie “Ulya” Cap

A towering teenage girl, caught between the safety of her village and the spotlight of a legendary women's basketball team, must confront whether her extraordinary body is a curse or her only path to belonging.

Directed by Viesturs Kairišs, the film was conceived by actor Kārlis Arnolds Avots, who also takes on the lead role. Based on the biography of legendary Latvian basketball player Uļjana Semjonova, the film had its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
